This is a mix that I did in late 1997 for the Mechanical Pulse show on WDBM Impact 89FM, Michigan State University college radio in East Lansing. The host of Mechanical Pulse at that time was Joe Lynn (right):
He had heard my “Universal Magnetic B-Boy Scientific” mixtape and asked if I wanted to stop by the show sometime and do a guest mix. I brought my records and equipment to the station and did the mix live on-air. I wanted to showcase some of the newer Drum & Bass tracks that I had been picking up, as well as some of my newer Drum & Bass/Rap mashups. I also wanted to play some of the other styles of Drum & Bass that I was into (e.g., Intelligent Drum & Bass, Jazz Step, etc.). I recorded what went out on the airwaves that night. After listening back, I thought that it came out sounding alright and decided to turn it into a mixtape.
